Bear Lake Watch announces new executive director

ST. CHARLES, Idaho — A new leader has been named for the organization overseeing Utah’s “Caribbean of the Rockies” — Bear Lake. Bear Lake Watch, which was founded in 1994 as a nonprofit community organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the lake, has announced Bear Lake resident Brady Long will serve as executive director.

FISH HAVAN – David and Claudia Cottle introduced a resolution to the Idaho State Legislature to have Bear Lake be recognized, protected and preserved for future generations. They also want it recognized for its unique geological features, fisheries, and recreational value among other characteristics.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah lawmakers are working on a bill that would set up principles for future development in an effort to protect Bear Lake, essentially mirroring a bill Idaho lawmakers approved earlier this year for the body of water that straddles the two states.
